For some time now the Chinese gaming industry has been stuck with the stigma of producing either lackluster clones of successful titles, or games that take a beautiful screenshot but offer little else (particularly in the VR market).
However recently things are changing and China is managing to change attitudes with some genuinely good releases Kelipot, Raksasi and Eastern Exorcist being prime examples. (you can see more of Kelipot in our video)
This latest preview trailer has set the internet talking. With its breathtaking visuals, superb concept art and slick looking soulslike gameplay already people are looking forward to a release.
However no release date has yet been set and the small development team are actively looking for more staff to help complete the project.
Here is a translation of the brief Q&A that can be found on their website.
Why did you choose now to release this preview video?
"The direct reason is that we are a small team and short of people.
We released the video in an effort to attract talent from around the globe.
If you're interested in being part of a team developing a AAA action title,
Please apply to Game Science via the website!"
What is the payment model of WuKong going to be?
"WuKong is going to be a classic one time purchase for the base game. However
we aren't ruling out the possibility of DLC further down the line!"
Which platforms is WuKong set to release on?
"Initially we plan to release on PC. Then across mainstream consoles.
We are also considering cloud gaming if the platforms can run the game smoothly."
When can we expect a release?
"In short... when it's ready :)
It shouldn't take forever but we will release it when we are satisfied from a players perspective. Our Vision is that this will be the first in the Black Myth series."
How long will it take to beat? Will there be a co-op or online mode?
"At the moment ...no comment. We are currently concentrating on the single player story mode. The content is solid with diverse character and weapon progression. However the core gameplay 'could' support some kind of online element....."
