Ghostwire: Tokyo first impressions

Ghostwire Tokyo is a really great game despite some reviews to the contrary.

It's very formulaic with regard to it's approach to an open world. It doesn't really do anything new, but it does everything right. It's lore and world building however, really make it stand out. Whereas every Farcry game is the same, ghostwire is unique in it's weirdness. That quirky "Japanese" take on the setting that makes games like Yakuza so strangely enthralling. Shibuya is fantastically realized and other-worldly gorgeous. It's mixes the contemporary world, Shinto and Yokai lore, all wonderfully interwoven. Gameplay is slick and intuitive, even if that familiarity comes at the cost of originality. It's pretty normal to draw comparisons from existing games. In the case of Ghostwire I was getting vibes of Yakuza, Farcry/Assassin's Creed and a bit of Astral Chain. Best parts of all of the above.
