More like Pronty an un"fish"nished adventure. Pronty is a metroidvania from Taiwan developers 18Light Games. Unfortunately I can't really tell you much more.
Not out of any secrecy or embargo, it's just.... unplayable.
Set in an aquatic world, you take on the role of Pronty, the eponymous fish person who must defend Royla the City of the Deep with the help of your trusty friend "Bront" the javelin fish weapon that you can't control!
Yup, you can't harness your main attack, unless you opt to play with mouse and keyboard or are playing with a controller and simultaneously using the mouse to aim.
The mind boggles.... Did no one playtest this and notice that this was lacking? You can move Pronty, interact with the environment and even fire off Bront in the direction of the on screen aiming reticle... Yet you can't move that reticle without putting down the controller and picking up you mouse.
Seriously, and the whole time there's a left analogue stick on the controller doing absolutely fucking nothing!?!
Massive oversight that made the game unplayable for me, couldn't even get through the tutorial.
I don't mind playing some games with mouse and keyboard while sat at a desk, I even prefer this method for some genre's such as MMOs or FPS. But a metroidvania with mouse and keyboard that's just archaic!
It's 2021 gamers can stream on multiple formats to multiple other formats, share one gaming PC in a home with multiple occupants accessing via various devices. For many their PC is a media center used on their main TV. It's frankly unacceptable for a game like this not to have controller support.
That's not be being all "entitled" and complaining about my first world problems, this is a title heading to consoles on 2022, so inherently needs controller support.
So why bother to palm this half finished rubbish off on PC gamers?
I'll tell you why, because they can, it's an unfortunate industry normal now, for many games to be released in early access on PC, with varying degrees of quality with some never even leaving early access.
Console players just wouldn't stand for it and rightly so.
If the developers had waited until, at the very least, they had full controller support to release a game that will obviously have controller support; it might be far better received and even garner some positive reviews.
So it's current state this game is farcical.
It looks nice, from what little I've seen.
As long as developers keep pushing shit like this out before it's ready, just as a cash grab, I'll keep calling it out.
Avoid this at all costs. (Unless you like playing games like this on M&K)
