Tower Princess launches Sep 8th on PC, PS and Switch

Tower Princess is new 3D roguelite platformer from Spanish developers Hypetrain Digital and launches September 8th.

You play the part of the galant knight who must platform and fight across procedurally generated levels, to rescue a 'prince' or 'princess' who in turn offers you support in taking down an area boss.

You have access to a variety of suitably different weapon types that can be upgraded in numerous ways to compliment your play style or how you want to approach each level.

The game has the feel of those old school PS1/PS2 era platformers, for better and worse. It was sometimes frustrating to gauge distances and land jumps in a way that really hit a nostalgia button and reinforced why I haven't downloaded any of the old school PS Premium games.

Controls felt a little 'floaty' like there's a touch too much inertia on the camera. There is an option to set input lag in the settings but I didn't really notice any difference.

Graphically the game is nice and seems well optimized and runs smoothly. I personally wasn't too keen on the color palette used as it seemed a little muted to compliment it's cartoon aesthetic. Thankfully the semi cel shaded characters really pop and allow you to focus on the action .

Overall it's a good game, not a great game but an impressive entry from a small development team. It's fun to play and the rouglite element, coupled with the procedurally generated levels, offer a decent level of replayability.

Tower Princess is available on PC, Playstation and Nintendo Switch (free demo correctly available via Steam) and is  definitely one to check out.
