V Rising 1.0 release, has much changed?

V Rising is a game that masterfully merges MMORPG elements with survival mechanics to deliver a genuinely compelling experience.

Unlike many titles that struggle to balance hybrid genres, V Rising manages to pull it off, keeping you hooked with its satisfying gameplay loop. From the moment you rise from your coffin, the game promises a thrilling journey full of challenges and adventures.

Character Customization: A Modest Start

While V Rising’s character customization options are somewhat limited, with few choices for features and hairstyles, it does offer a range of skin tones and hair colors. Despite this initial simplicity, the real fun begins with exploration.

Immersive Tutorials and Expansive World

The game’s tutorials are exceptionally detailed, ensuring you never feel lost. They seamlessly guide you through the basics, from navigation to crafting, making the initial stages of gameplay enjoyable with a smooth learning curve. The world is deceptively large, presenting a vast landscape that takes time to traverse and fully explore; especially before unlocking quicker method of movement or fast travel points. The day-night cycle adds a strategic layer, as sunlight can severely damage you, forcing you to plan your excursions carefully.

Resource Gathering and Efficient Crafting

Resource gathering in V Rising feels rewarding rather than tedious. Specialized tools, like a mace that increases damage to minerals, speed up the process. The comparatively generous yield from resource nodes means you can start crafting sooner, avoiding the grind often associated with survival games. As you progress, the game scales the difficulty, requiring more materials but always maintaining a fair balance.

Engaging Boss Battles and Flexible Abilities

Boss battles are a highlight in V Rising. Initially, the game required defeating specific bosses to unlock fixed abilities, which felt somewhat restrictive. However, the 1.0 update introduces a more flexible system where bosses drop skill points. This change allows you to choose from a set of spells, tailoring your abilities to your playstyle. No longer do you need to repeatedly face difficult bosses for subpar rewards; you can now strategically plan your battles and abilities.

Objectives and Progression

Unlike traditional games with a clear narrative, V Rising uses a series of objectives to guide your progression. These tasks, crucial for unlocking new items and abilities, act as a roadmap for your journey. While this approach lacks a cohesive story, it keeps the gameplay focused and challenging. Completing these objectives is essential, as skipping them can hinder your progress.

Despite areas needing improvement, (looking at you controller camera), the core gameplay is captivating. If you're looking for a game that offers endless hours of fun and challenges V Rising 1.0 is an enjoyable and comprehensive experience.
